Hey babe! It is so important to treat you well while traveling, keep attention to your body and health, and keep you fit in general. Personally, I love doing sports. Most often it is my way to clear my mind as the positive emotions and calmness I feel after a workout are just priceless. I would not categorize myself as totally frantic about sports overall, however I often had major difficulties to continue my workout habits during traveling the world. Um, going sightseeing is always more interesting than sticking to workouts, right? But why not combining both? And in that way perfectly continuing with your workout routine and feeling healthy? Here are my ultimate tips for you that will support you on your next travels.

1. Exercise during transfer.
My first recommendation for combining workouts and traveling is exactly during transfers. Whether you are going on a long-haul flight, a very long road trip, or by bus or train. It is very important to move your body parts from time to time and allow your body to stretch and stimulate the circulation in your body, especially when you have to stay in a seated position for a too long time. Whenever possible try to get a break, stretch yourself, walk around a bit. On a road trip you can do some exercises on a parking place. I once found a great in-flight video for stretching while sitting on your seat. This is to keep you fit while traveling and e.g. to prevent vein thrombosis and low blood pressure.

2. Go sightseeing during a run.
Workouts and sightseeing is the perfect combo for sure! You can go exploring a city, a surrounding, the nature while running. Of course walking is also a great option to support your fitness and enjoy the sightseeing mode. If you are traveling more to a nature-focused country, hiking is a great substitute for running and gives extra power while enjoying the nature. Same for picking a bike iso a cab to visit sights. It will be a plus for your health and is of fun, too. I know you’ll find more great ways to exercise while sightseeing, girl!

3. Join a yoga class at a special location.
Yoga is an excellent activity to stretch your body and calm your mind at the same time. I would call yoga the perfect workout for a woman traveling. It can be done literally everywhere and only needs your presence. You can perform yoga at your own even at the most special locations and anytime – on the beach at sunset, in a park at sunrise, in the rainforest, on top of a mountain, etc. Further, more and more yoga studios pop up worldwide that offer classes at the most stunning locations, e.g. yoga at the sky tower in Chicago (360 Chicago Observation Deck), yoga in the jungle in Bali (Blue Earth Village), underwater yoga in the Maldives (Hurawalhi) or yoga on sand dunes in Fuerteventura on the Canary Islands (Ocean Yoga).

4. Go to the gym on-site.
Another great opportunity to continue to workout while traveling is using local gyms, babe. Most hotels offer a gym facility. Besides you can join a local gym, just ask them for a short term membership (daily or weekly basis). Sometimes I even use my hotel room to do some exercises. For support, I use several fitness apps and YouTube video classes for guidance. I can recommend Gymondo as an app-based service and the workouts by Pamela Reif via her channel on YouTube.

5. Try local sports.
Besides going to the local gym, you can engage in local sports. So whatever these sports might be in your country of visit, they will definitely be a new challenge and super fun for you. Let’s think about joining a rhythmic salsa class in Cuba, starting with iconic judo in Japan, or having a match of paddle tennis in the USA. A lot of sport facilities and clubs do their marketing via facebook making it pretty easy for you to find them and get in contact. Additionally, the well-known platforms for travel activities (e.g. getyourguide and others) usually offer sport courses and tryouts as well.
