Hey travel lovelies, it’s somewhat crazy to admit, but summer is slowly coming to an end in the Western hemisphere. As much as I love the warm temperatures, endless summer nights, and tons of true magical moments, fall also can be so charming in NYC! When all the trees turn their leaves into those beautiful colors in Central Park, cozy cafes invite you to slow down over a hot chocolate, and rainy days offer so many amazing opportunities to spend time indoors. And yes, this is also a great experience for women traveling solo to New York! Get your umbrella ready girl – for a season you will love for sure.
1. Get a hot chocolate at a bakery & cafe
When it’s rainy and the air outside filled with uncomfy humidity, I love to get indoors, to get cozy and warmed-up. What would you say about a hot chocolate with extra cream on top to hide from the rain and get cozy in a cute bakery or cafe in New York? Irresistible spots include Magnolia Bakery, Devoción, and Kobrick Coffee Company.
2. Visit cultural sights in museums, libraries & galleries
New York is packed with cultural sights and so many great spots are indoors! What about Grand Central Station, The Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and The Museum of Natural History? Another great location is the iconic New York Public Library, babe. Embrace yourself with the classical Romeo & Juliet novel while hearing the rain drops falling on the roof.
3. Get pampered in wellness & spa facilities
Whenever it’s cold & rainy outside I love visiting spas! Relaxing in a sauna, steam room or a hot tub are just so perfect. And why not getting a massage or beauty treatments afterwards? You’ll feel so rejuvenated after a couple of hours in a spa. Check out the best ones like Aire Ancient Baths, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, and Shibui Spa at The Greenwich Hotel.
4. Watch a show on New York Broadway
There is truly nothing more spectacular than watching on of those breathtaking shows on New York’s Broadway! Taking a seat in those cozy red chairs, feeling the vibes, and the moments on stage and let them all take your breath away, girl! Even if you travel alone to New York, this experience will always stay with you.
5. Shop new rubber boots
The best matches with a rainy day in NYC are for sure gorgeous rubber boots and an umbrella. So why not going to shop new rubber boots with that extra New York chic and showing them around while walking through the streets of NYC, girl?
6. Stroll through Central Park
Walking through Central Park in New York can be so relaxing! Walking on those little paths and inhaling the fresh air of the park. Especially in autumn you can smell those earthy scents in the air, damp and humid is the air consisting of millions of rain drops.
7. Dance in the rain
Why not combining a walk through Central Park with a little dance in the rain? Have you ever tried it, girl? It’s just so liberating and fun. Those giggles will accompany you back home to get a hot shower to warm you up after this adventure.
8. Grab a drink at a speakeasy bar
A little bit of a secret please. I highly recommend speakeasy bars that come with that kind of secret you are longing for! Sometimes a password is needed to get inside, sometimes a specific dress code applies. Be prepared to meet crazy new people when heading there solo!
9. Get creative with cooking, baking & painting
Although traveling alone girl, you never truly are! Perfect for those rainy days alone in New York are courses & classes, like e.g. cooking or baking. Even creating crafts or painting classes are an amazing thing. And we women love to be creative as this means tapping into our feminine and feeling alinged.

10. Walk through the rainy streets of New York at night
Why do nights make everything so mystical? Especially when it’s raining outside, all those lights of Downtown New York create this extraordinary colorful reflections on the wet asphalt of the streets. The red traffic lights, the yellow cabs and the spotlights everywhere. Enjoy this experience, girl.
